We wish a “Joyeux Noël” and a “Bonne Année” to all the friends, employees and partners of Château de Fontaine.

Nothing quite says Christmas like the smell of cinnamon, spice and sugar, and in our kitchens the Wandt children are whipping up festive cakes and desserts from traditional English, French and Danish recipes - much to the joy of friends and neighbours.

To spend the holiday season at the Château is a genuine treat.  Nestled in the Normandy region of cobblestone streets and timbered houses, where Christmas markets only add to the atmosphere during the holiday season. The vin chaud hot wine scented with a bit of orange, a bit of cinnamon, star anise and ginger, is served on street corners, from market stands and restaurants throughout the region, it is as much a part of the holidays as Père Noël.

Dressed in her holiday best the Château lights up with sparkling Christmas trees and holiday fun, while the weather outside can be cold and frosty throughout December, one of the best ways to escape the weather and experience an instant snug and warm holiday atmosphere is to visit the horses in their stables. According to an old legend Christmas Eve is the one time of year when animals gain the power of speech, until the dawn of Christmas morning. We wonder if they would perhaps share theyre dreams for the future, following their famed mothers and fathers footsteps in the international show arenas, or perhaps share their excitement for the 20 playful foals who will join the Château family the upcoming foaling season, or maybe they even share a horsey joke or two.

Wishing a Merry Christmas and a fun filled Happy New Year to you and your loved ones.
